Why See Pittsburgh Opera: Orphee?

The traditional story of Orpheus and Eurydice is adapted by Philip Glass for Pittsburgh Opera's 75th anniversary, where the looking back and onwards to the future is being celebrated.

The eponymous Orphée is now a famed poet, who's life is altered inexplicably when he meets the mysterious Princess at a literary party, who seems to have a direct line to the afterlife.

When his long suffering wife Eurydice is taken to the underworld, Orphée is charged with going after her, only to find out that's where the real trouble starts. A solemn tale, expertly updated for the 21st century, showing us an curious view of how we love, live and expire.
