The celebrated horror musical returns!
The students of Richard E. Rauh Conservatory are teaming up with Pittsburgh Musical Theater for a full-scale production of this horror musical favorite, now 25 years old in 2016. Depicting the tale of one man with two VERY different personalities, we follow the internal struggle between man and the beast within, against a hit musical pop rock score by Grammy and Tony nominated composer Frank Wildhorn and adapted story by Oscar-winning Leslie Bricusse.
What is it about?
Dr Jekyll is a young, aspiring scientist hoping to uncover the evil that he feels hides just under the surface of all people. With his cruel, mad father now languishing within an insane asylum, he makes a research proposal to the hospital governors; to use his father as a test subject to cure his mental illness, by combating the perceived evil within.
Rejected, Jekyll decides to go it alone and test his chemical formula on himself -with catastrophic results. Whereas Jekyll was kind and passionate, engaged to the supportive and sweet Emma Danvers, he transforms into a monstrous brute called Mr Hyde, wreaking havoc on everybody around him.
With the hit songs Lost In the Darkness, Here's To The Night, and Dangerous Games, this gloriously gory musical recreates Robert Louis Stevenson's Gothic tale for a new audience, forcing us to examine our inner demons.
