An ode to Paris and its composers!

Paris, the city of love is the focus of this uber-romantic program of classical music! With guest conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier at the helm, a triple bill of French classics will be performed live by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Starting things off will be an enchanting rendition of Stravinsky's Petrushka from 1947, which in fact coincides with Tortelier 's 70th birthday! This charming piece examines themes of jealousy and love between three Russian wooden puppets.

To follow is Offenbach’s La Gaite Parisienne, a celebration of the city's divine cafe and bistro culture and conjures up sunny afternoons on the cobbled sidewalks; followed by Ravel's triumphant Bolero, now synonymous with a certain Olympic-winning British ice-skating duo by the names of Torvill and Dean.....
