HELLO, DOLLY! WITH MISS BETTY BUCKLEY

Over the moon and into a galaxy far, far away. Light all the candles and pull out the biggest red carpet. This is a major star-affirming production with dancing and acrobatics and color like you've never seen. This wonderful show might well eclipse even the fabled original. Run, do not walk, and buy the best ticket you can. This is the one you will be telling your grandchildren about.

PUT ON YOUR SUNDAY CLOTHES AND GET TO THE PANTAGES

Fantastic show and Betty Buckley made Dolly her own, not a parody of Bette Midler or any of the amazing divas who have taken on this role. Her comic timing was perfect, so don't know what other reviewers were comparing it to. Colorful costumes, sets and solid supporting cast. We laughed, cried and laughed again -- one of my party had hesitated going because she couldn't see Buckley pulling off this role. She thanked me for insisting and said she was flat out "wrong." It's a short run so don't delay. And, yes, I'm still humming the tunes today!

IT ONLY TAKES A MOMENT TO FALL IN LOVE ALL OVER AGAIN WITH HELLO DOLLY

We live in very strange times here in the US. Seeing this performance is like a bolt of Sunshine and the music and songs reminds us that there are many Wonderful Things in Life! Buckley is delightful in the role-not playing a cliche version of former dowager empresses gone by. This is a distinctive performance. The supporting cast are very talented. The costumes and scenery are simply delicious. A treat from beginning to end. The only draw back was someone behind us with a I stop croup cough. If you have the flu be kind enough to stay home. It’s ruse and nobody else wants to be sick!

A FUN NIGHT

as season ticket holders my wife and I wondered before the performance started wondered if we would leave at intermission..Wow were we surprised.. the dance scenes were superb. The cast led by Betty Buckley brought out the humor and magic of the play.. enjoyable is a vast understatement.. Go see it..

OLD SCHOOL FUN WITH BETTY BUCKLEY AND COMPANY!

What a fun show! This old-fashioned comedy has an almost vaudeville feel to it; kind of corny - and lots of fun! The staging is simple and effective, and it didn't distract from the wonderful songs and choreography. Even though I've loved the score for decades, I felt like I was hearing some of the songs for the first time. That's really special. I have long enjoyed Betty Buckley as a cabaret singer and this production makes good use of her broad talent for interpreting songs and making them her own. I imagine that's hard to pull off, given how many great actresses have played Dolly, but she nailed the role. All the main actors are solid and Lewis J. Stadlen is especially delightful as Horace Vandergelder. The dancing is a fantastic nod to Gower Champion, with huge props to the athletic "Waiters Romp." I can see why people who only know Hello, Dolly! from the glam Streisand movie may feel let down. Their loss. All I can say is enjoy this Hello, Dolly! before the parade passes by!

A NIGHT OF COLOR, SONG AND LAUGHTER

I thoroughly loved this production of Hello Dolly. The humor, the timing, the energy, the choreography, the colors made for a night of pure enjoyment. I recognize that Betty Buckley may not have quite the prowess that she did in her earlier days, but her timing, and seasoned presence made her a lovable character. If you’re looking for an old school high energy musical that puts a smile on your face, and makes you realize the exuberant talent that’s out there, go see this production .

HELLO DOLLY A HUGE HIT IN MY BOOK!!

I enjoyed this rendition of an old favorite - every minute of this production was filled with fun and laughter and memories of the many times I've seen this in the past. KUDOS to the cast on a wonderful performance by all - I am a huge fan!

HELLO DOLLY 2/11/2020

This is a wonderful production! The cast is top notch, as are the costumes, live orchestra, lighting, and choreography. It is a treat for all senses! Carolee Carmello is fabulous as Dolly, she grabs hold of the audience from the very first scene. The dancers are marvels of athleticism and enthusiasm. If you have a kid in competitive dancing who is interested at all in getting into the theater, this is a MUST see. I have season tickets to the Fox Broadway series, this show made it into my top 5 favorites. Thanks for a delightfully entertaining evening!

BETTY BUCKLEY AS DOLLY LEVI A BIT OF A DISAPPOINTMENT

First, I don’t profess to be a professional theater critic, just a lover of the arts and season ticket holder of Las Vegas Smith Center since the first day it opened! About Hello Dolly: my opinion only, but the production needed a stronger lead as Dolly Levi. Betty Buckley has an impressive resume, but her portrayal in this show left us a bit dissapointed. Her vocals were a bit ‘off’ and weak, and her attempts at the dance numbers, the same. We would have loved to see someone else as Dolly. The production itself was spectacular from the dancers, singers to stage design. Just perfection! Only complaint.... Betty Buckley.

GREAT SHOW, BUT DISAPPOINTED THAT BUCKLEY DECIDED TO SKIP IT

We are subscribers in two Iowa cities for years and had just seen 7 shows in NYC. We were excited to get to see Betty Buckley today. After the 3 hour drive to Des Moines I was puzzled to not see any mention of Buckley in the cast. The show was great, but only now after driving home do I see where she decided to skip the trip. I guess everyone deserves a vacation.

GREAT PRODUCTION, WEAK LEAD

I was so looking forward to seeing Betty Buckley in the lead. But she just wasn't strong enough to carry such a big part. The production, choreography, costumes, and the dancing talent were terrific. Overall, it equated out to just an OK show.

WHO NEEDS BETTY BUCKLEY

Jessica Sheridan did a great job as Dolly. Can’t imagine anyone could have been better. Lots of understudy’s today. Curious if DCPA has to refund all the empty seats today.

DOLLY AND HORACE LEADS TO YOUNG FOR THE PARTS

I saw Hello Dolly today. Other than the leads, the stars were phenomenal. John Bolton has a nice voice, but he was too young to play Horace. Carolee could dance but singing was fate. The actors who played Irene, Jeremy and Corenelius were great. Let’s face it we go to Dolly to see Dolly and Carmelo is no Dolly Levi.

HOPE DEFLATED

Hello Dolly is one of my favorite musicals and I was so looking forward to this performance because of the legend of Betty Buckley but I left feeling disappointed. While I appreciate her Broadway history, I didn't feel that Betty Buckley brought justice to the Dolly Levi character. Quick songs were a beat slower, and I felt everyone was dancing around her vs. her being a part of it. The comedy aspects were delayed or flat in delivery. Costumes were beautiful and colorful. Sets were wonderful - loved the train! Supporting cast and dancers were fabulous!!

A HARD LEAD TO FOLLOW

Being a fan of the Hello Dolly staring Barbara Streisand as Dolly Gallagher Levi, Walter Matthau as Horace Vandergelder, and the unforgettable vocal performance Louis Armstrong, this was a disappointing rendition of the Hollywood classic. For this film to be recreated and choreographed on the big stage, it has to have just the right cast to pull it off, and there’s where it lacked. However I enjoyed the costumes and the sets very much.

HELLO DOLLY

Was not impressed with Dolly. Her vocals were not great. And she didn’t seem to fit her role. The costumes were gorgeous and the set was beautiful. It was funny but the times when Dolly was on stage I was annoyed and bored. :(

HELLO DOLLY WAS JUST ‘EH

Looked forward all season to seeing the great Betty Buckley. Songs were off, slower, felt like my grandmother was singing and felt she moved so stiffly like she was afraid to break a hip. Supporting cast was awesome. Costumes and set outstanding. Wouldn’t sign up to see this classic again.
