After an absence of nearly ten years, illustrious German conductor Christoph von Dohnanyi is back in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for this second chapter of the season's Brahms cycle, featuring the delightful Symphony No. 2. Composed whilst visiting a picturesque village in Austria, Symphony No. 2 captures all of the pastoral beauty, babbling streams, sunshine and blue skies associated with a serene vacation.

Preceding this piece is Schumann's grand Symphony No. 4, a work with which Dohnanyi is particularly assocaited with.
