The PSO Celebrates 10 Years With Manfred Honeck

Join the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, helmed by world renowned Austrian composer Manfred Honeck for an evening of Saint-Saens, John Adams, Brahms and Pigovat to mark Honeck's tenth anniversary as the PSO's resident music director. They'll be joined by violin virtuoso Christian Tetzlaff for Brahms' Violin Concerto, a classic piece that simply must be included in any world class violinist's repertoire.

At the center of the programme lies Saint-Saens' Symphony No. 3, a thunderously triumphant piece for the organ that was to become one of the composer's crowning glories in his later works. Considered his most inventive, expressive and technically-advanced piece, the symphony is a rapturous force to be reckoned with.

Programme:

JOHN ADAMS: Lollapalooza
BRAHMS: Violin Concerto
PIGOVAT: Manfred Honeck 10th Anniversary Commission- Therefore Choose Life... SAINT-SAENS: Symphony No. 3 Organ
