Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra - Appalachian Spring

A performance full of wonder
Why see Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra - Appalachian Spring?
This Land is Your Land
Aaron Copland's hopeful peon to early American settlers forms the highlight of this excellent program performed by Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under the eye of conductor Manfred Honek. Evoking the challenges and adventures of the land's first immigrants, Copland's enduring Pulitzer Prize-winning epic is a monumental work to witness, but the audience will not just be treated to the aural delight of the work; accompanying visual delight comes in the form of dancers from Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, who will perform Mark Godden's Angels in the Architecture set to Copland's masterpiece!
This season finale performance will also include three other brilliant pieces of music to close out triumphantly; Michael Daugherty's world premiere of the Pittsburgh Symphony-commissioned Dancing in the Streets, Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto and Jessie Montgomery bouncy, folk-informed Strum.
