Chicago - The Band

Chicago - The Band at UPMC Events Center

Why see Chicago - The Band?

Chicago Who?

You'll be forgiven for occasionally confusing this seminal rock band with other equally famous entities that share its name. This particular Chicago is neither a windy city nor a Broadway musical... Chicago (the band) formed in the late 1960s, their popularity peaking during the hey-days of 70s and 80s rock epitomized by big hair and even bigger ballads. If you've ever heard iconic lyrics, "Oooooh no baby please don't go!", then you've heard of Chicago.

Their debut album, 'Chicago Transit Authority' is so culturally significant that it was selected by the Library of Congress for the National Recording Registry, cementing their status as true architects of the American sound! They're also inductees to both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame. If you're still curious but unsure, there's only one thing to it... head to one of their next gigs and experience these legendary American rockers live on stage for yourself!

Disappointed

I have seen the band several times and love their music. First hearing them sing Beginnings at the Cow Shed in Conneaut Lake in the 90s . I had bucket list second row tickets for my 75Th Birthday. I thought the Band overall were excellent in their presentation and sound. Was anxiously wanting to see the three original members of the group for my possible last time, due to my declining health. Lee Lachnane and Jimmy Pancow took the stage . Robert Lamm was Missing . His organ sat on stage and I hoped he was running late. Neil Donnell sung all of the songs that Robert has always lent his own special talent to the presentation. While the music helped ease the pain of missing Robert , I could not help but feel cheated . THe band never mentioned his absence ,leaving me worried he had become ill. I have loved these guys and must say had a crush on Robert. After so many changes since last year I also missed Lou Pardini and Keith Howland. Long time fans I know, also noted Robert was missing. THe band may think they can just go on forever ,but many have been invested in the individual players and feel their loss! The music will live forever, but in my eyes the loss of Robert at this concert was huge for me. Missed you Robert.Wish you Wellness and Happiness wherever you ... Read more

Chicago the Band/ in San Antonio 3/7/2026

Highly recommend going to see Chicago every chance you get! For me, a trip down memory lane for sure. But for everyone: their energy, musicianship, generous set list, and overall sweet fire will leave you breathless. Bravo to the originals who have brought on new bandmates and assimilated them in a way that is impossible to define. This was the same Chicago that I went to see twice in the 70s and once in the 80s. Enjoyable, sometimes even emotional, loved every second! ... Read more

I could’ve stayed all night. It was great. Their sound was great. They brought back so many memories from the 70s and I would turn right around and go back and see them again. ... Read more
