With the release of Mannheim Steamroller's first holiday album 1984 came the kind of fame that made the act a veritable Christmas time tradition. With founder and composer Chip Taylor at the helm, the all-American music troupe continues to tour extensively, bringing Yuletide cheer to audiences throughout the US with a unique Neo-Classical take on popular carols and songs. Built in 1927 and beginning it's life as the Stanley Theatre, the Benedum Center reopened in its current form in 1987 after extensive renovations. The refurbishments included extensions to the stage and a new building, but the original vintage interior was restored to its former glory. A jewel in the crown of Pittsburgh's cultural district, the center hosts the best Broadway shows and exciting concerts as they tour, and is also home to resident organisations including the Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and the Pittsburgh Opera.
