Opened on Halloween night, The Byham has been a landmark fixture of Sixth Avenue through numerous restorations and re-openings. Interestingly it was one of the last major theaters in the country to use an old fashioned sandbag and pully rigging system right up until 1999. Today it plays host to productions from local theater and ballet companies, alongside smaller touring shows.
