Lucinda Williams

August 7, 2019

One of America's finest singer-songwriters, Lucinda Williams' substantial talents transcend the genres with which she's so at ease, from folk to blues and country-rock. At every live show, Williams demonstrates why her music speaks out to so many, with yearning and mourning.

In 2009, Billboard Magazine named Boney James the Jazz Musician of the Decade and the tremendously talented saxophonist certainly lives up to that moniker. While seen as a forerunner of the smooth jazz movement, Boney's style of playing combines pop and RnB and his style is often seen as grittier and more textured than the easy-listening genre.

In recent years, her songwriting has taken a more mature course and she's set herself to tackle current social and political issues, from Hurricane Katrina to September 11.

  • Year opened: 1904
  • Capacity: 1300
  • Concession stands
  • Merchandise booths
  • Disabled access
  • Air conditioning
  • In-house bar

Opened on Halloween night, The Byham has been a landmark fixture of Sixth Avenue through numerous restorations and re-openings. Interestingly it was one of the last major theaters in the country to use an old fashioned sandbag and pully rigging system right up until 1999. Today it plays host to productions from local theater and ballet companies, alongside smaller touring shows.
