Built in 1927 and beginning it's life as the Stanley Theatre, the Benedum Center reopened in its current form in 1987 after extensive renovations. The refurbishments included extensions to the stage and a new building, but the original vintage interior was restored to its former glory. A jewel in the crown of Pittsburgh's cultural district, the center hosts the best Broadway shows and exciting concerts as they tour, and is also home to resident organisations including the Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and the Pittsburgh Opera.

The Heinz Hall is a 2,676 seat venue which hosts about 200 performances every year. It is home to the Pittsburgh Symphony and Youth Symphony Orchestras. The venue was originally built as a movie palace in 1927 as Loew's Penn Theatre, which was then renovated and reopened as Heinz Hall in 1971. The renovation involved replacing ornamental elements of the hall, in order to convert it from a movie theater to a concert hall with suitable acoustics. As well as the many orchestral performances, Heinz Hall also hosts Broadway tours, speaker's series and special events.

Opened on Halloween night, The Byham has been a landmark fixture of Sixth Avenue through numerous restorations and re-openings. Interestingly it was one of the last major theaters in the country to use an old fashioned sandbag and pully rigging system right up until 1999. Today it plays host to productions from local theater and ballet companies, alongside smaller touring shows.
