Spend an evening swinging with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, conducted by symphonia music director Lawrence Lo, and legendary Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Patti Austin. Together they'll be mining the depths of the Amerian songbook for a programme of big band era hits from the great bandleaders Porter, Gershwin and Ellington amongst others.
A protege of Sammy Davis Jr. and Dinah Washington, Austin has spent six decades enthralling audiences with her considerable vocal talent. Her interpretations of Ella Fitzgerald's catalogue, as well as a foray into the works of Gerswhin, have placed the soulful songstress as one of the foremost jazz vocalists of our time.
